An 18-month internship program on Danish dairy and pig farms under an official internship contract with a legal work permit; after completing the program participants may apply for permanent residence. On pig farms the work covers feeding and cleaning, piglet care including castration and vaccination, insemination of sows, barn hygiene, driving and basic fieldwork. On dairy farms it includes milking, feeding and caring for calves, spreading straw, operating a tractor or loader and assisting the veterinarian. The schedule is 37.5 hours per week, with salary paid monthly in Danish kroner to a personal bank account: 1,720 EUR per month for the first 6 months, then 1,990 EUR for participants under 25 and 2,300 EUR for those aged 25 and above. Wage tax is around 16–20%, housing costs about 250 EUR and meals about 250 EUR; overtime is paid additionally. Benefits include free medical care, paid sick leave and 7 weeks of paid vacation. Applicants must be up to 25 years old, study or have graduated in an agriculture-related field and have at least A2 English.
